1994: Dr Hector F.A. v Drentham-Susman and Ken R. Stewart formed Rotech in Aberdeen out of the fabrication business of Volker Stevin Offshore (UK) Limited, with the goal of establishing a group of companies focussed on developing new technologies for the offshore energy industry;
Commenced development of an innovative downhole motor, the MacDrill, for oil, gas and geothermal applications.
1996: First commercial MacDrill field trials in Norwegian Sector of the North Sea for BP and Statoil.
1997: Geothermal work with MacDrill successfully completed at 575oF.
1998: Licensed MacDrill technology to Weatherford International Inc.
First commercial field trial of Rotech “T” subsea excavation equipment successfully completed on the Cardiff Bay Barrage project.
2000: First post-trenching of a 70km 36” pipeline completed in Egypt; Rotech Subsea Ltd formed.
2003: Commenced development of the Rotech Tidal Turbine under the DTI Sustainable Energy Programmes
2004: Rotech Subsea USA LLC formed to services US GOM.
2005: First deepwater excavation completed in 1000 metres water depth.
2006: Opened sales and maintenance facilities at Cunningham Business Park, Houston;
Singapore sales office opened and Rotech Subsea Asia Pacific PTE LTD formed.
2010: Sales office opened in Rio de Janeiro
2011: Rotech sells Rotech Subsea Ltd, including its USA and Singapore subsidiaries, to REEF AS of Norway.
2011: Rotech Group win contract with Shell to design a tool for decontaminating subsea structures prior to decommissioning.
