With expertise in fluid dynamics and impellors, Rotech engineers designed and tested their unique “T” shaped tools with confidence that it was the answer the industry was looking for.  The engineers developed a tool that could maintain stability while accurately excavating a variety of seabed materials that are out with the capabilities of other mass flow techniques. Now Rotech Subsea offers four models of excavation tools that are the leaders in the market.

Details: Two counter rotating propeller pumps direct a low pressure high velocity water jet through a vertically positioned nozzle to the seabed thus creating an excavating effect which results in a trench when the tool is moved laterally. The gyroscopic effect of the two counter rotating propellers provides a high degree of lateral stability whilst the weight of the tool maintains vertical stability.

The tools can be deployed by crane, A-frame, or a davit. A multi-beam sonar is mounted on the trailing arm of the tool to get a real-time image of the excavation effect.

The non contact, high volume, yet low pressure water column cuts through soils rapidly without any damage to the structure.

Not only does Rotech Subsea offer tools with unique design and high performance additional features together with a highly experienced team enable us to overcome many challenges.

Soil Specific Nozzles: Three different sized nozzles are available for different soils. The low velocity nozzle works great in silt and mud. A high velocity nozzle is available for firm clay and in some circumstances and intermediate velocity nozzle works best.

Extensions: When dealing with excavations around well-head or jacket legs, extensions can be added to the tool in order to achieve greater depths of excavations.

Electro Hydraulic power pack: In dealing with greater water depths the option of a Subsea electro hydraulic power pack can be coupled to a T4000 for deepwater excavation.

T8000: The Rotech Subsea T8000 offers the maximum excavation rate with a controllable water column of up to 8000 litres per second (2113 US gallons per second). The T8000 is suitable for any type of large scale excavations.

T4000: The Rotech Subsea T4000 has a high range of versatility with a controllable water column of up to 4000 litres per second (1056 US gallons per second). An electro hydraulic power pack can be fitted to the T4000 to enable deepwater excavations.

R2000LD: The Rotech Subsea R2000 Low Draught is a single impellor model that generates a controllable water column of up to 2000 litres per second (528 gallons per second). The R2000LD can operate in water depths as shallow as 2.5m, and is ideal for shore approach cable trenching.

Twin R2000LD: The Twin R2000LD is an upgraded development from the R2000LD which allows shallow water excavations (2.5m upwards) on pipelines up to 50” diameter.
